In 2023, we initiated a partnership with the school, La Institución Educativa Antonio Nariño, while partnering with the local nonprofit organization, Colectivo Traso. This organization manages alliances to raise the quality of life and reduce the inequality gap in the local population.
We first implemented the virtual STEM-robotics program, CoderZ. During the summer of 2024, we held a successful in-person, two-week training program with the school’s teachers followed by working with a group of 30 girls. The school is now poised to create a sustainable STEM-robotics program for its girls.
TESTIMONIAL
The Antonio Nariño School in Cartagena, Colombia expresses its deepest gratitude to The Community Bots. It has been a transcendental experience to open the doors to the world of technology to our girls. During The Community Bots training, it was incredible to observe our students’ enthusiasm and dedication to this program. Being able to develop their STEM skills and to learn with a pedagogy that was so fun and engaging is an opportunity that is too infrequent for this population of girls due to the vulnerabilities of their lives and the community. During the training, the classroom was transformed into a space of innovation and creativity, harnessing the intellectual capacities that all human beings have, regardless of their economic condition, and above all, highlighting the role of women in the STEM fields. We applaud and celebrate The Community Bots, and our school is committed to continuing with this process that has just begun. We know that our girls are being empowered to help tackle some of the most pressing problems of the 21st century.
